Breast
Cancer
Fortunately the death rate
figures for breast cancer show that they
have decreased significantly in recent
years with the biggest drop in younger
women.
The drop in numbers
is directed towards early detection
of the disease and improved
treatments and medicines available in
our
hospitals.
Two thirds of the 35,000
of new cases diagnosed with breast cancer
in the UK result in a cure. Breast Cancer
is an illness where malignant (cancerous)
cells are found in women’s breast tissue.
Each breast has 15 to 20 sections or parts
called lobes which also have other tiny
sections called lobules.
These lobes
and lobules are linked by thin tubes called
ducts. The most common breast cancer type
is the 'invasive adenocarcinoma,' which
stems from either the ducts or the lobules.
The invasive ductal carcinoma is one of the
most common. It is found in the cells of
the ducts and usually forms a hard lump.
(70 per cent of all breast
cancers)
Cancer whether
it be lung bowel or breast cancer detected
in the early stages is a sure way of
guaranteeing survival for the patient.
